Stuttgart: victory at last
Between July 1 and 3, 2026, in Stuttgart, eleven students led by Professor Casarsa competed with the drone Sandocan, a carbon-fiber aircraft two meters long with a wingspan of nearly three meters, capable of carrying 3.85 kg while exceeding 100 km/h, piloted by Enrico Lo Greco. On July 8–9, the announcement came: the University of Udine won the Air Cargo Challenge 2026, beating the Technical University of Munich in the final, after three consecutive second-place finishes (2019, 2022, 2024) — a victory decided by just 24 points out of a total score of 1,402. As tradition dictates, the winning team will organize the next edition: the Air Cargo Challenge 2028 will take place in Udine.
