T2
The team's first aircraft, and the only one never to compete in an Air Cargo Challenge, team #026 flew at SAE Aero Design East in Fort Worth, Texas, in Regular Class.
No one in Udine was studying aerospace engineering, so the team was composed of mechanical engineering students. The first prototype, the T1, flew on June 28, 2012, but crashed during testing; the T2 that replaced it, in flight since December 27, was also destroyed on January 18, 2013, two months before the race. In a matter of weeks, the team built two more planes and set off for Texas.
They finished fourth overall and third in the technical presentation—a result that convinced everyone to keep going.
